PFR Score™ Methodology
Every prop firm on PropFundedRank is scored using our proprietary PFR Score™ — a weighted composite rating out of 5.0. Here is exactly how it is calculated, what data we use, and how often it is updated.
What is the PFR Score™?
The PropFundedRank Score (PFR Score™) is a proprietary 5.0-point rating assigned to every prop firm we review. Unlike single-metric rankings (sorted purely by profit split or Trustpilot rating), the PFR Score™ is a weighted composite across six independently verified criteria.
The goal is to surface the best overall firm for a professional funded trader — not just the one with the highest marketing number. A firm with a 95% profit split that routinely denies payouts will score far lower than a firm with an 80% split and a spotless payout track record.
Score Range
0.0 – 5.0
Scores above 4.5 indicate an elite, verified firm. Scores below 3.0 indicate significant concerns.
Scoring Criteria (Weighted)
Payout Reliability & Speed
We cross-reference trader-reported payout receipts, withdrawal timelines from verified Discord and Trustpilot reports, and stated payout processing times. Firms with consistent, on-time payouts and verifiable proof score highest.
Profit Split & Scaling Potential
Maximum available profit split percentage and whether the firm offers a credible scaling plan (capital increases tied to consistent performance milestones). Higher splits with realistic scaling paths score better.
Drawdown Rules & Fairness
We evaluate both daily and total drawdown limits, the calculation method (static vs trailing vs balance-based), and how accessible the rules are. Firms with clearly documented, trader-friendly drawdown structures score higher.
Community Trust Score (Trustpilot + Forums)
Aggregated score from Trustpilot reviews, Reddit (r/Forex, r/Daytrading), Discord trader communities, and PropFundedRank user submissions. Weighted to reduce the impact of incentivized reviews.
Challenge Pricing & Value
Entry cost for the evaluation relative to the funded account size. We factor in whether failed-challenge discounts, free retries, or fee refunds on first payout are available.
Trading Rule Flexibility
Whether the firm permits news trading, weekend holding, algorithmic/EA strategies, and how restrictive lot-size consistency or time-based rules are. More flexibility for serious traders scores higher.
Data Sources & Verification
The PFR Score™ is derived from the following independently verifiable data sources:
- Official Firm Documentation: Terms of Service, FAQ pages, evaluation rulebooks, and publicly listed account types on each firm's website.
- Trustpilot Reviews: Aggregated from each firm's verified Trustpilot profile. We apply a spam-filter weight to reduce the impact of short-burst incentivized reviews.
- Reddit (r/Forex, r/Daytrading, r/PropTrading): Monitored for trader complaints, payout delays, and rule-change disclosures over a rolling 12-month window.
- Discord & Telegram Community Reports: PropFundedRank monitors major trader community servers for withdrawal disputes and rule violation reports.
- Verified Payout Receipts: Where available, we verify trader-submitted payout proofs (bank screenshots, Rise/Deel transaction confirmations, crypto hash confirmations).
- PropFundedRank User Submissions: Traders can submit payout confirmations and dispute reports directly through our site. Verified submissions are incorporated into future score updates.
Update Frequency
PFR Scores are reviewed on a quarterly basis (January, April, July, October). Scores may be updated out-of-cycle if a firm experiences a material event such as:
- • A significant payout denial incident with community evidence
- • A retroactive rule change post-challenge purchase
- • A broker or liquidity provider switch affecting execution quality
- • A suspension or permanent closure
Each prop firm review page displays a "Last Updated" timestamp indicating when the score and content were last verified.
