Prop Firm Consistency Rules Explained
Many traders pass their evaluation, generate significant profits, and are shocked when their first payout request is rejected due to a Consistency Rule Violation.
The Three Types of Consistency Rules
1. Profit Consistency Percentage (e.g. 40% Rule)
No single trading day can account for more than 30% to 40% of your total target profit. This prevents traders from relying on a single lucky market spike.
2. Lot Size Consistency Range
Your trade lot sizes must remain within a calculated average band (e.g., between 1.0 lot and 3.0 lots).
$$ ext{Average Lot Size} = rac{ ext{Total Lots Traded}}{ ext{Total Executed Orders}}$$
If your average lot size is 2.0 lots, placing a 0.01 micro-lot trade simply to add trading days will flag a consistency violation.
How to Stay Compliant
- Keep risk fixed per trade (e.g., 0.5% per position).
- Do not scale lot sizes up 10x after a losing trade.
- Review rules on our Prop Firm Directory before starting.
